Our Company

We do more than simply manufacture plastic components—we serve customers in innovative ways.

Custom Plastic Forming was founded by the Martin family in 1997 in Salisbury, North Carolina, approximately 40 miles north of Charlotte. Seeing a need in the growing golf car customization market, Custom Plastic Forming opened to manufacture golf car sun tops. Soon after, the owners discovered other markets that could be served.

We started as a small operation with a handful of employees and one piece of equipment. Today, we manufacture thin- and heavy- gauge thermoformed components of all types. We have approximately 150 employees, 10 thermoforming machines, five CNC routers and four CNC machining centers. Our plant also includes design, engineering, fulfillment and assembly departments.

Originating in a 10,000 square foot facility, the company grew rapidly, facilitating the addition of more buildings to support growing operations. In 2014, the company moved into its current 150,000 square foot headquarters and manufacturing facility. The company continues to maintain two former locations to support customer managed inventories for JIT delivery.

Our plant features state-of-the-art equipment that enables us to produce a variety of custom thin-gauge and heavy-gauge plastic components. Our capabilities begin with design and engineering to development of prototypes, tool-making, and manufacture of components, including assembly.

Logistics and shipping operations are critical to customer success and work in sync with receipt of raw materials, manufacturing, fulfillment and customer service. We believe that the order is not complete until customer service follows-up to ensure that everything is right with the product. If you already have designs for your product, CPF can work from them, providing enhancements and recommending materials to meet your product standards and budget parameters.

Today, Custom Plastic Forming serves customers nationally and internationally  in many industries including, but not limited to, the automotive, recreational, construction, textile, medical, distribution, and electronics industries.

Our company’s focus has always been, and continues to be, to provide solutions that help our customers maximize profits.
